Congratulations to RID Program Master’s Student Sofia Nicolls on Receiving a Canada Graduate Scholarships — Master’s Award!

We would like to wish our sincerest congratulations to the RID Team master’s student Sofia Nicolls on receiving a Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s Award for her work on the NOVA-HIV project! The CGS-M awards are awarded annually as a joint initiative by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to 3,000 graduate students across Canada and in various disciplines who exhibit extraordinary academic and research achievement in their graduate studies! Sofia was selected for this award due to her exemplary work as part of the RID Program’s NOVA-HIV project, which is looking to determine if 2 doses of the HPV vaccine provides equivalent protection as 3 doses in the women and people with a cervix living with HIV population (WLWH). Sofia’s research specifically focuses on improving the understanding of the thoughts and perceptions towards HPV self-sampling as a cervical cancer screening method, the baseline HPV vaccination rates, and the prevalence/incidence of HPV infection in the WLWH population. Congratulations again to Sofia!!
