COVERED: COVID-19 Vaccine Registry for 2023 Pregnancies

English Français

The COVERED Project is a Canada-wide project being conducted by the RID program to better understand the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant and lactating individuals, as well as the attitudes toward vaccination within this population. The data is collected from pregnant and lactating women and people, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. It is through this study that we hope to help health institutions and care practitioners provide up-to-date recommendations regarding vaccination for pregnant women and people, and also help future parents make informed health decisions during pregnancy.

The COVERED project has been conducted in two iterations so far, with a first study intake conducted from Summer 2021 to Summer 2023 which has now closed to participants and a new intake from Fall 2023-Spring 2024 that is actively recruiting! If you are interested in participating, are at least 19 years of age, and have become pregnant in 2023, please click here to fill out the COVERED e-Consent!

Coordinating Centre Lead: Dr. Deborah Money, MD, FRCSC, Professor, Depts. of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Medicine, SPPH, University of British Columbia, Clinician Scientist, Women’s Health Research Institute

Immune Sub-Study

The Immune Sub-Study is a research project, being conducted as part of the COVERED project which is hoping to improve our understanding of the immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant women and people, as well as the level of transmission from parent to infant for these COVID antibodies through the placenta and/or breastmilk. The study specifically focuses on pregnant women and people who are delivering/planning to deliver at BC Women’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC and have received or are planning to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

This sub-study like the new iteration of COVERED is actively recruiting, so if you fit the study criteria and are interested in participating or getting more information on this study, please click here to fill out a survey with your consent and contact information so that a member of our study team can reach out about next steps for participating!
