The RID Program’s newest publication “The Role of Vaccination in Maternal and Perinatal Outcomes Associated With COVID-19 in Pregnancy” which was published recently in JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association), has been featured by numerous news outlets around the world! The publication describes results from the RID Program’s Canadian Surveillance of COVID-19 in Pregnancy: Epidemiology, Maternal and Infant Outcomes Project (CANCOVID-Preg), which collected health outcome data on over 20,000 cases of COVID-19 in pregnancy in 9 provinces and territories across Canada. The publication describes key results of the project, which found that maternal COVID-19 vaccination before and during pregnancy, prior to COVID-19 infection, reduced the risk of COVID-19-related maternal hospitalization and critical care unit admission, as well as preterm birth. The publication can be found here!
Lead authors Dr. Deborah Money and Dr. Elisabeth McClymont have been interviewed by the UBC NEWS team about the publication, which can be found here! Dr. Deborah Money was also interviewed by The Globe and Mail about the publication, which can be found here!
The publication has also been featured by numerous news organizations around the world including CTV News, The Miami Herald, U.S. News & World Report, EurekAlert! by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), among numerous others.
